Joan Davis English, of, Wethersfield, beloved wife of Seth M. English, and mother, blessed by God’s gift of three very special children passed away peacefully Sunday, March 20, 2011, at home, with her loving family by her side.. Born in Hartford, she was the daughter of the late Grace (Skahill) and John W, Davis; she resided in Wethersfield for many years. Joan graduated from Mt. St. Joseph Academy in West Hartford, St. Vincent’s Hospital in Bridgeport, along with receiving a B.S. Degree from CCSU. Joan spent fifty years in the Nursing Field leaving many caring and loving friends. Prior her retirement as a RN, she was a caregiver at several healthcare facilities, to include St. Francis Hospital, Skilled Nursing Facility, Harford, the Sisters of Mercy and many elderly residents of St. Mary Home, and Mercy Knoll, West Hartford, as well as Maple View Manor, Rocky Hill. Together with her husband, Seth, Joan will be fondly remembered by loving family; two sons, Seth English Jr., and Scott English; daughter & son-in-law, Sheryll and Stephen Giannini; five caring grandchildren, Jessica and Jaclyn English, Stephen, Scott and Allegra Giannini. In addition to her parents, Joan was predeceased by her three sisters, Virginia Davis, Eleanor Paradee,Winifred Patterson, and several nieces and nephews. She wished to especially remember Dr. Jaques Mendelson, Dr. Eugene Sullivan, Dr. Michael Teigor, Dr. Peter White, and Dr. William Sanders, as well as all of the St. Francis Hospital staff, and Dr. Thomas Gworek of Wethersfield, for his faithful and caring service. A further expression of appreciation to the Sisters of Mercy, along with each and every private caregiver for their assistance and compassion . Joan expressed a deep love for the congregations and attending priests of Sacred Heart and Corpus Christi Churches. Her LOVE will always be with us, because love never dies. Funeral procession from the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd. Wethersfield, will be Thursday, March 24, 2011 at 9am, with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Joan’s life at 10am in Sacred Heart Church, 56 Hartford Ave. Wethersfield. Interment will follow in Village Cemetery, Marsh St. Old Wethersfield. The English family will receive relatives and friends Wednesday, March 23, from 4 – 7pm at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made in Joan’s name to the Sacred Heart or Corpus Christi Social Action Committees, 84 Somerset St. Wethersfield, CT 06109.
