Dorothy “Dottie” Rohan Quirk, 80, of West Hartford, beloved wife of the late James J. Quirk, passed away peacefully Tuesday, August 14, 2012 with her family at her side. Born in Hartford, she was the daughter of the late Joseph & Margaret (Farrell) Rohan and resided in the Hartford area all her life. She was a graduate of St. Peter’s Grammar School and Hartford High School. Dottie was the first female Democratic Town Chairperson of Hartford and worked for many years at the Department of Consumer Protection. Dottie had a passion for politics, serving and volunteering with the Democratic Party all of her life. She also loved spending time at her home in Rhode Island with her family and friends. Above all she was an amazing mother, grandmother and friend. She will be greatly missed. Sharing in their loss are her children, Martin J. Quirk of Hartford, Mary Lynch and her husband, Robert of Marlborough, Annie Sullivan and her husband, Patrick as well as a granddaughter, Ann-Margaret Sullivan all of West Hartford and her beloved sister-in-law Dorothy Moore of Madison, and many loving nieces and nephews. Friends and relatives may call on the family Thursday, August 16, 2012 from 4 to 7 pm at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd., Wethersfield. Funeral services will be Friday at 9:00am, from the Farley Sullivan Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 872 Farmington Ave., West Hartford. Interment will follow in Mount St. Benedict Cemetery, Shrine of the Apostles Section , 1 Cottage Grove Rd., Bloomfield.
