Richard "Dick" Ident, 84, of Rocky Hill and Wethersfield, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 17, 2013. He was the beloved husband of 47 years to Irene (Talarski) Ident. He was born on August 17, 1929 and was the son of the late Frank Ident and Eleanor (Polozie) Klemas. He was raised and attended school in South Windsor. After graduating from Ellsworth High School he served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Dick was a radio host for more than 15 years for WRYM's Sunday morning Polish Radio Show. He was also in car sales and until this past September was employed as a Supervisor in charge of Dispatchers and Drivers at Cardinal Health. Dick was a dedicated member, usher and collector at Corpus Christi Church and a lifetime 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. Dick is also survived by his only daughter, Theresa Ident Wolfer and his beloved grandchildren Rachel and Ryan Wolfer all of Wethersfield. His stepdaughter, Cindy and her husband David Horowtiz, and their children, Daniel and Alan of West Hartford. He also leaves behind several nieces, nephews and cousins. Dick and Irene had many special friends including Michael Tackett, Bonnie Stevens, Peg and Sam Kolbsky, Peter and Eileen Spotaso and Mary Jo Holden. Dick loved his four legged best friend, Oscar. The family would like to extend a special thank you to their family, friends and co-workers along with the staff at Maple View Manor in Rocky Hill for all their kindness and compassion during Dick's short illness. Dick’s family will receive friends and relatives Friday, December 27, 2013 from 10-11am at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd., Wethersfield, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Dick’s life at 11:30am in Corpus Christi Church, 601 Silas Deane Highway, Wethersfield. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. The family requests in lieu of flowers, and that memorial donations be made in Dick’s name to the American Cancer Society, I-91 Tech Center, 825 Brook St., Rocky Hill, CT 06067 or to St. Jude’s Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
