Rita L. Deveneau, 91, of Hartford, daughter of the late Peter Francis and Mary Lowe Deveneau, died on Feb. 26, 2009. She was a lifelong resident of Hartford and a graduate of the Immaculate Conception School, Bulkeley High School and Merchants and Bankers Business School. She was legal secretary at the firm of Rourke and Hanrahan, Attorneys at Law, for over 55 years, retiring in 1991. Rita was Past President of the Immaculate Conception Church Rosary Society, a Grand Regent of the Catholic Daughters of America, No. 1104, and a member of the Catholic Daughters Past Regents’ Club. Rita is survived by a sister, Mary D. Sweeney, three nieces and their spouses, Mary S. and Frank L. Sena, Rita-Ann and Brent M. Owen and Cynthia M. and Dean A. Desrosier, all of Wethersfield. She is also survived by six great nieces and nephews, Holly M. Sena, and her spouse, Jeffrey Goldschmidt, of West Hartford, Katherine A. Sena, Sean M. Owen, Jeffrey M. Desrosier and Jacqueline M. Desrosier, all of Wethersfield, and Carolyn M. Owen of West Hartford, and a great-great nephew, Max Sena-Goldschmidt of West Hartford. She was predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Monica and William O’Rourke, and brother-in-law, James Martin Sweeney. Rita’s family thanks her at-home caregivers, Nessa and Joyce, and the caring staff at Ellis Manor, especially Elaine and Juliette. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, March 5 at 9:30 am from the Farley Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Road, Wethersfield, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in Corpus Christi Church, 601 Silas Deane Hwy. Wethersfield. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, 580 Elm St., Rocky Hill. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 8:30-9:30 am.
