Italia (Dolly) D’Onofrio, 85, of Wethersfield, passed away peacefully at her home, Wednesday, May 30, 2012, after a long battle with Leukemia. Dolly was born, April 13, 1927, and raised in Hartford, prior to moving to Wethersfield. She was the daughter of the late John and Jennie (Nardone) D’Onofrio. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Sadie D’Onofrio, and her brother-in-law, George W. Schroeder. Prior to her retirement, she worked for the Aetna Life and Casualty for over 42 years. Dolly is survived by a sister, Helen Schroeder; brother, John D’Onofrio and his wife Joanne; two nieces and their spouses, Lisa and Boyd Eastman, Lori and Guy Roberge; two nephews, Stephen D’Onofrio, Rich D’Onofrio and his wife Lisa; two great nieces, Lauren Eastman, and Haley Roberge; three great nephews, Dominic D’Onofrio, Matthew Eastman, and Ryan Roberge; in addition to numerous cousins and close friends both here and abroad. Dolly’s family would like to extend their most heartfelt thanks to Dr. Todd Alekshun, along with VA nurses Megan and Mary, for all their kind and compassionate care of Dolly during her illness. In addition, a special thank you to Dolly’s devoted friend, Joanne Fammartino, who visited Dolly three to four times a week. Friends and relatives may call on the family Saturday June 2nd from 9:30am-10:30am, at the Farley & Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd., Wethersfield, with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Dolly’s life, at 11am in Corpus Christi Church, 601 Silas Deane Highway, Wethersfield. Interment will follow in Mount St. Benedict Cemetery (Section X), 1 Cottage Grove Rd., Bloomfield. At Dolly’s request, in lieu of flowers, and that memorial donations are made in her name to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
