E. Timothy Cooney III (Tim), 63, cherished husband of Debra (Prue) Cooney, went to meet his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, January 11. Born in Hartford, CT on April 24, 1948, son of Colette (Robert) Cooney and the late Edward Cooney Jr. Tim attended East Hartford High School as well as Mt. Saint Charles Academy in Woonsocket RI, and he graduated from the “School of Hard Knocks”. He went on living with his family for the rest of his life in East Hartford. In the 90’s Tim took over the third generation family bar, The Maple Café, located in East Hartford. He was a proud sponsor of The Maple Café men’s flag football team and the East Hartford youth football team, The Steamers. Tim loved his sports teams, summer time on the shoreline, weekends on his boat and time with his family. Along with his wife Debra, and his mother Colette, Tim will be remembered by his six children; Patrick, Paul, Jordyn, Travis, Shamus (wife Nathalie) and Moira (husband Capt. Steven Lanz); two adored and adoring grandchildren Aiden and Hailey; a sister Karen Harp, and brother Brian Cooney. In addition, he also leaves many aunts, uncles, brothers and sisters in law, nieces, and nephews. Tim’s family will receive relatives and friends at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 50 Naubuc Avenue, Glastonbury, on Sunday, January 15, from 4-7pm. A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Tim’s life will be held on Monday, January 16, at 11am in St. Christopher Church, 538 Brewer St., East Hartford, (all attending, please go directly to the church). Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
