Margaret "Peggy" (Mangan) Curry, 78, of Hartford, passed away Saturday, January 7, 2012. She was married for 52 years to the late Michael A. Curry. Peggy was born in Yonkers, NY, to John and Mary (Sammon) Mangan, and grew up in Hartford, CT, where she lived her life as a wife, homemaker, and caregiver. Known for her feisty personality and "tell it like it is" truisms, she will be greatly missed. Peggy loved family, poetry, and Irish music. She was the mother of six children: Mary Ellen Ambrose (Arthur), Keller, TX; Michael Curry, Wethersfield; the late John Curry, Hartford; Kevin Curry (Patricia), Farmington; Noreen Dowd (William), Wethersfield; and Kathleen Curry, Arlington, VA. She was also the "grammy" of seven beloved grandchildren: Kathleen Ambrose-Quarantello (John Michael), Patricia Ambrose, Brian Ambrose, Andrew Dowd, Patrick Dowd, Brendan Dowd, and Erin Curry. Peggy was predeceased by her seven siblings: Mary, Tommy, John Joe, Jimmy, Nancy, Marty, and Richie. She was especially close to her brother-in-law, Patrick Shannon, and her sister-in-law, Elida Mangan, as well as Dennis and Christine Shannon. Peggy also leaves many much-loved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Her memory will be cherished by many. Friends and relatives may call on the family on Monday, January 9, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd., Wethersfield. On Tuesday, January 10, a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows, 79 New Park Avenue, Hartford. Burial will follow at Mount St. Benedict Cemetery, 1 Cottage Grove Rd., Bloomfield.
