James “Bobo” Joseph Kenny, 79, of Rocky Hill, beloved husband of Ann O’Donnell Kenny, passed away peacefully Wednesday at Hartford Hospital. Jim was born and raised in New York, New York, son of the late James P. and Marion (Natt) Kenny. He attended Northeastern University in Boston, graduating in 1955 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering. Jim was employed as a civil engineer, and lived in Rocky Hill for the last 51 years. One of Jim’s first major projects was the design of the original I-91 corridor. His military service was with the United States Army mapping and survey of the Sahara Desert. Along with his wife Ann, Jim will be fondly remembered by his loving family, two sons and daughters in law, James L. & Theresa Kenny of South Windsor, Daniel & Joyce Kenny of Charlotte, NC; a daughter, Kathleen A. Kenny of Warwick, RI; a brother and sister in law, George & Ann Kenny of Marshfield, MA, sister in law, Dorothy Kenny of Braintree, MA; five adoring grandchildren, Lexie, Jackie, Jamie, Daniel, & Jackson. In addition to his parents, Jim was predeceased by a brother Gerald Kenny. Relatives and friends may call on Jim’s family, Friday October 21, at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd., Wethersfield, where a funeral service will be held between 4:30-6:30 pm. The Kenny family requests in lieu of flowers that memorial donations be made in Jim’s name to the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center, 282 Washington St., Hartford, CT 06106.
