Eileen Dillon Bumster, 87, of Wethersfield, beloved wife of Attorney William J. Bumster, passed away peacefully, Sunday, July 24, 2011 at St. Francis Hospital, surrounded by her family. Eileen was born and raised in Norfolk. She attended St. Joseph College in West Hartford and then the University of Indiana where she earned a Masters Degree. Eileen was Assistant Dean of Women at Douglas College-Rutgers University. After returning to Connecticut to be with her family, Eileen served as Private Secretary to Govenors Abraham Ribicoff and John Dempsey, from 1955 to 1971. After leaving State office, she worked alongside her husband William, in his legal practice in Wethersfield. In addition to William, Eileen will be fondly remembered by her family; a sister-in-law, Rita Barry of Farmington; two nephews, George Cooper and his wife Kathy, of North Carolina, and Kevin Barry of Farmington; seven nieces and their spouses, Ann Dillon of Maine, Pamela & Fred Shores, Karen & George Pfaffenbach, Peggy & Tom Hobson, all of East Hampton, Bunny & Steve Brown of New York, Colleen Michelson of Farmington, and Joanne & Donny Scanlon of Rocky Hill; her cousin, John Barry and his wife Deborah of Plantsville; along with several grand nieces & nephews. Relatives and friends may call Wednesday, July 27, 2011 from 4-8pm at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd., Wethersfield. Funeral procession from Farley-Sullivan will be Thursday, July 28 at 9am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, celebrating Eileen’s life at 10am in Corpus Christi Church, 601 Silas Deane Highway, Wethersfield. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Norfolk. |
