Joseph T. Borodec, 60, of Hartford, beloved husband of Sutthi (Chanjumrus) Borodec, of Hartford, passed away peacefully Wednesday February 23, 2011 in Hartford Hospital. Born November 22, 1950 in Onawa IA, he was the son of the late Wolodyamyr and Justyna (Kostyczyn) Borodec. He resided in the Hartford area most of his life. Joseph served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. Prior to his retirement, he was employed for 35 years by the US Postal Service most recently as an Electronic Technician. Along with his wife, Joseph will be remembered by his family; a son, Joseph E. Borodec of Hartford; two daughters, Bunntip (Bunny) Borodec of Hartford, Michelle Bongiovanni and her husband Michael, of Seattle, WA; and a sister, Anna Borodec of Hartford. A Requiem Liturgy celebrating Joseph’s life will be held Wednesday, March 2, at 10am in St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, 125 Wethersfield Ave., Hartford. Interment will follow in St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, New London Tpke, Glastonbury. Joseph’s family will receive relatives and friends at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd. Wethersfield, Tuesday, March 1, from 6-8pm, with a Panachyda service at 7pm. The Borodec family requests in lieu of flowers and that memorial donations be made in Joseph’s name to The American Lung Association, 45 Ash St., East Hartford, CT 06108-3272 .
