Albert Jesse Smith Jr, husband of Nancy (LeClair) Smith, of Wethersfield died unexpectedly while vacationing in Florida on January 28, 2011. Born in Worcester, MA, he was the son of the Albert and Eudora (Palmer) Smith. He retired as a manager in the Treasury Dept. from the Hartford Insurance Group. He was a member of Copper Hill Golf Club, Men’s Club and a former member of the Wethersfield Lions Club. Al enjoyed life to the fullest. His passion for golf extended to playing every course he could including St. Andrews in Scotland. He was especially proud of the two holes in one that he shot. He and his wife travelled all over the world. His artistic talent was evident in his paintings of ocean scenes and lighthouses. He organized a Smith family for the last twenty years to keep the family close. He was loved and admired by all who knew him. His ready smile and good nature endeared him to all. He leaves his daughters, Jane Johnson of Middletown, and Sarah Burns of Watertown.He also leaves his beloved grandchildren, whom he loved spending time with and taught life lessons too, Petty Officer 2nd Class Michael Johnson of San Diego, CA, Brian and Shelly, Alison and Alexander Difiore. He leaves numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, and his, sisters, Hope Marshburn and Bette Alanville. A Memorial celebration of Albert’s life will be held Saturday, January 12, 2011 at 12:00noon in Trinity Episcopal Church, 300 Main St. Old Wethersfield with the Rev. Scott Lee officiating. Friends and relatives may call on the family Friday, February 11, 2011 from 5-7pm at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd. Wethersfield. The Smith family requests in lieu of flowers, and that memorial donations be made in Albert’s name to the Connecticut Humane Society, 701 Russell Rd. Newington, CT 06111.
