Robert Carroll of Hartford, passed away January 16, 2011 at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford. Born in Hartford, CT on January 17, 1950 Bob “Bobby” was the son of the late Frank P. Carroll and the late Gertrude (Jennings) Carroll. Bob, is predeceased by his brother, Frank Carroll Jr. He is survived by one brother, Atty. Kevin B. Carroll and his wife Rhonda of Hartford, CT, three sisters; Margaret Desler of Henderson, NV, Joyce Boyd of East Hartford and Dianne Clark of East Granby, CT,; eight nieces and nephews; Jeffrey Desler of NV, Jody Desler and his wife, Sara of Delaware, Jonathan Desler and his wife, Lee-Lee of Oxford, MS, Kelly (Boyd) Lavigne and her husband, Michael of East Hartford, Karolyn (Boyd) Devaney and her husband, Danny of Pearl River, N. Y., Brendan Boyd and his wife, Stephanie of Columbia, CT., Danny Dalton of Rocky Hill, CT., Arthur (Moniz) Carroll of Hartford, CT., Mary Clark of Avon, CT., Liz Clark of East Granby, CT., and Courtney Carroll of Hartford, CT. Bob had many wonderful friends whom he loved and who gave graciously of themselves to help Bob, especially during his illness, particularly his good friends, Kevin Sullivan of Hartford, CT., Nick Marinelli of East Windsor, CT., and Tom Crafa of Rocky Hill, CT. Bob was a decorated Marine and served in Viet Nam from 1968- 1970. He worked in the Hartford Post Office for twenty five years where he collected many loyal and lifetime friends. He will be most remembered for his giving nature and sense of humor which he maintained even as his illness progressed. He loved a day at the races and was an avid sports fan, never missing a football game if possible. He loved the “Sopranos” and old movies and any poor soul who wandered in unsuspectingly would be required to watch them with him in their entirety. Bob was a wonderful loving son and brother. His passing will leave a huge void in all our lives. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, January 20, 2011 at 9am from the Farley Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd, Wethersfield, CT, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Lawrence O’Toole Church, 494 New Britain Ave, Hartford, CT. Interment will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery, 453 Fairfield Ave, Hartford. Friends and relatives may call on the family, Wednesday, January 19, 2011 from 5-8pm.
