Beverly Whaples passed away peacefully, Thursday, July 22 in Bloomfield. She was 75 years old. The daughter of the late Harold and Florence Seymour Whaples, she was also predeceased by her sister June. It wasn’t always easy being Bev. Challenged throughout her life with cerebral palsy, Bev fought fiercely to maintain her dignity and independence. During her fifty- years residence on Hartford’s Montowese Street, she became a fixture as she daily visited with her neighbors who were also her friends. The O’Briens, Deckers, McGurkins, Lees, Kuchtas, D’Angelos, Conneelys and others welcomed her to their homes and family events. After her Mother’s death, Beverly lived independently for many years in senior housing in Hartford and East Hartford until she moved to Wintonbury Care Center six years ago. The excellent staff welcomed her, cared for her and became her new friends. She leaves longtime friends Phyllis Guguere of Londonderry, New Hampshire and Bob and Candy Killian of Hartford, among others, who mourn her passing. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 26, 2010, 10am directly in Central Baptist Church, 457 Main St., Hartford, CT 06103 with Pastor John Endler officiating. Interment will follow in the family plot at Fairview Cemetery, (Section 6), 200 Whitman Ave., West Hartford, CT. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers friends are asked to consider a memorial donation to Central Baptist Church Home Visitor Fund, 457 Main St. Hartford, CT. 06103. Beverly’s funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd., Wethersfield, CT 06109.
