Raymond W. McTeague, 81, of East Hartford, beloved husband of Katherine “Kitty” (Piwoski) McTeague, passed away peacefully Saturday, June 5, 2010 at St. Francis Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born in Hartford, son of the late Joseph and Mary (Sancomb) McTeague, he lived in the Hartford area all of his life. He was a Veteran of United States Army. Raymond was a firefighter for the City of Hartford for many years, retiring in 1993 as Deputy Chief. In addition to being on the Hartford Fire Department, Ray was a member of the Hartford Firemen’s Benevolent Society, The Hartford Firefighters Protective Assoc., The Veteran Firefighters Assoc., The Hartford Firefighters Emerald Society, The American Legion Post 56, and The East Hartford Benevolent Protective Order of Elks. In addition to his loving wife, Katherine, of 57 years, Ray will be remembered by his loving family; two sons, Raymond W. McTeague Jr. and his wife Deborah of Marion, CT, Michael J. McTeague and his wife Karen of Granby; three daughters, Suzanne Howey and her husband Gary of East Hartford, Kathleen Quattropani of Colchester, Patricia Kosis and her husband Marty of Manchester; two brothers, John McTeague and his wife Mickey of Florida, Gerald McTeague and his wife Valerie of Ellington; twelve cherished grandchildren; Stephen and Shawn Howey, Jessica Riley and her husband Sean, Alyssa, Shayna, Kyle, and Evan Quattropani, Kevin and Ryan Kosis, Matthew, Bryan, and Sarah McTeague; two adoring great grandchildren, Benjamin and Adam Howey. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, June 8, 2010, with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Ray’s life at 10 a.m. in St. Bridget’s Church, 80 Main Street, Manchester, everyone is asked to go directly to the church. Interment will follow in Veteran’s Memorial Field of Silver Lane Cemetery, Silver Lane, East Hartford. Ray’s family will receive relatives and friends Monday June 7, from 4-7 p.m. at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 50 Naubuc Avenue, Glastonbury, CT 06033.
