Sexton, Johanna (Dickau). Johanna “Nan” (Dickau) Sexton, 96, of Wethersfield passed away peacefully Wednesday, (May 26, 2010) at St. Francis Hospital, Hartford, CT. A long-time member of South Congregational Church, Hartford, she had an extraordinarily active life until her recent illness. For 70 years, Johanna worked for the Travelers Insurance Company and was working for them regularly until March, 2010. While in her 80’s, she was also an employee of the Bank of America. Johanna loved music and learned to play the organ when she was 90. She was a devoted wife and mother along with being a superb baker. Johanna will be dearly missed by her son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Laura, a granddaughter, Mitra and her husband Matt, two grandsons, Daniel and Jonathan, and two great-grandchildren, Ian and Maya. Burial will take place Friday (May 28) at 10:30 am at Cedar Hill Cemetery (Section 9), 453 Fairfield Ave., Hartford, followed by a Memorial Service at 11:30 am at South Congregational Church, 277 Main Street, Hartford, CT. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the American Cancer Society. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd., Wethersfield.
