Donald “Burke” Collins, 73, devoted husband of the late JoAnn (Brophy) Collins of Rocky Hill entered into eternal rest Monday, April 5, 2010. Born in Hartford, he was the son of the late William and Lillian (Kearns) Collins. Upon his completion of service with the U.S. Army in Korea, Burke spent many satisfactory years as a Bridge Inspector for the State of Connecticut, D.O.T. He was an avid sports fan and loved to watch and cheer the Red Sox, Giants and UCONN Huskies as well as being active in the Rocky Hill St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee. Burke and JoAnn lived in Rocky Hill, where they raised their daughters who share in their loss; Jill Brough and her husband, Reggie of Marlborough, Eileen Collins and her husband, Brian Gray of Ellington, and Laura Collins of Vernon as well as three granddaughters, Georgia, Caroline and Kara. He also leaves his brothers; Bruce Collins and his wife, Jeanne of Farmington, Brian Collins of Panama City, FL, and Brad Collins and his wife Bonnie of West Hartford and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, April 10 at 8:45am from the Farley Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd, Wethersfield, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30am in St. James Church, 767 Elm St, Rocky Hill. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park, 580 Elm St. Rocky Hill. Friends and relatives may call on the family Friday, April 9 from 5-7pm at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made to Community Health Resources, 995 Day Hill Rd, Windsor, CT. 06095.
