Frieda (Hulka) Shearer, 84, of Wethersfield, beloved wife of Robert E. Shearer, entered into eternal peace Monday November 30, 2009 at the Subacute Center of Bristol, with her family by her side. Frieda was born and raised in Augsburg, Germany, June 17, 1925, daughter of the late Friedrich & Ottilie (Gastl) Hulka. As a teenager, she became a professional ballet performer, unfortunately her career ended early with the beginning of World War II. She came to America in 1958, and resided in Wethersfield. She enjoyed caring for her family, along with unselfishly caring for others. She was a friend to all, and her home was always open to her family and friends including four legged friends of all kinds being that she was an avid animal lover. Frieda loved to garden, but most of all she loved her Ballroom dancing. She was a member of the Hartford Saengerbund of Newington, and a student and performer of the Gotta Dance Ballroom Studio, formerly co-owned and operator by her daughter Anita. In addition to her husband Robert, Frieda will be fondly remembered by her loving family; a son and daughter in law, Raymond & Debi Shearer of Broadbrook; two daughters and sons in law, Monica & Stephen Marsh of Wethersfield, and Anita & Jack Dube of Portland; two grandchildren, Curtis Wong of New York, New York, and Angela Tourtellotte and her special friend Marc Paternostro of Harwinton; a sister, Katerina Wisckow of Langweid, Germany; several nieces and nephews; a special friend, who she considered her third daughter, Elisabeth Marocchini. She was predeceased by a sister and two brothers in law; Hermina & Alois Bayer, and Rudolf Wisckow. The funeral procession will be Friday December 4, 2009 at 10:30am from the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd. Wethersfield, with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Frieda’s life, at 11:00am in Corpus Christi Church, 601 Silas Deane Highway, Wethersfield. Interment will follow in the family plot in St. Mary Cemetery (Section H-1), 1309 Stanley St. New Britain. Relatives and friends may call on the family Thursday December 3, 2009 from 5-7pm at the funeral home. The Shearer family requests in lieu of flowers, that memorial donations be made in Frieda’s name to the Subacute Center of Bristol, 23 Fair St, Bristol, CT 06010 or the Vitas Hospice Services, 1579 Straits Tpke # C, Middlebury, CT 06762-1835.
