Walter Jedynak, 85, of Wethersfield, husband of Frances (Mierzejewski) Jedynak, passed away Friday evening (September 11, 2009). Born in Hartford he was the son of the late Thomas and Lucy (Guzy) Jedynak. Walter served in the US Army Battery D 132 for three years during World War II as an Anti Aircraft Artillery 2nd Class Gunner. He worked for many years as Salesman with Auto Paint Distributors and Sherwin Williams. He was a lifetime member of the Hartford Elks No. 19, SS. Cyril and Methodius Men’s Club, The Polish National Home, The Polish National Alliance, The Polish Legion of American Veterans and the American Legion of Foreign Wars. Walter loved fishing, the beach in Rhode Island and gardening. In addition to his wife Frances, Walter is survived by his son, Thomas W. Jedynak and his wife Deborah, his daughters; Geraldine Tangney and her husband Jim, Donna LaFountain and her husband David, his grandchildren; Craig and Cheryl Pazdar, Eric and Jennifer Pazdar, John Contrastano, Amanda, TJ and Tara Jedynak. The Jedynak family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at the Wethersfield Healthcare Facility on Jordan Lane for their wonderful care.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday September 15, 2009, at 9:15am from the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Road, Wethersfield, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial 10:00am, in Corpus Christi Church, 601 Silas Deane Highway, Wethersfield. Interment will follow with full military honors in Rose Hill Memorial Park, 580 Elm Street, Rocky Hill. Walter’s family will receive relatives and friends at the funeral home Monday September 14, from 5-8pm.
