Maria Conchetta (Macri) Turrisi, 93, of Newington, beloved wife of the late Mauro Turrisi, went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday July 14, 2009 at Avery Heights surrounded by her family. Maria was born in Messina, Sicily August 15, 1915, and emigrated to Connecticut in August of 1967 with her children to join her husband and resided in the Hartford area. She was a seamstress for many years at Manchester Modes. Maria will be fondly remembered by her loving family; a son and daughter in law, Andrea and Maria Turrisi of Newington; a daughter, Angela Salfi of Santa Margherita, Sicily; seven grandchildren, Assunta Salfi, Maurizio Salfi both in Sicily, Mauro Turrisi of New Britain, Andria Miller of Newington, Maria Lucia Bongiorno of Windsor, Carmelo Bongiorno of Glastonbury, and Linda Kenneman of Lebanon; ten great grandchildren. Maria’s family will receive relatives and friends today July 16, 2009 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Road, Wethersfield, with a prayer service celebrating Maria’s life at 7:00pm. Interment at the family plot will be held Friday July 17, 2009 at 10:00am directly in Cedar Hill Cemetery (Section 27), 453 Fairfield Avenue, Hartford.
