Russell Ernest Desrocher, 69, of East Hartford, entered eternal peace Tuesday April 21, 2009 at St. Francis Hospital. Born in Hartford, May 29, 1939, he was the son of the late Ernest L. Desrocher and the late Doris Ruth (Erickson) Gilbert. He lived in East Hartford all of his adult life. Russell owned a service station on the corners of Park and School Streets in East Hartford for many years then went on to open and operate Russ’s Automotive in South Windsor. He had a great love and respect for NASCAR racing, Dale Earnhardt (#3), as well as being a Stock Car Racer himself at Riverside Speedway in his own car known as “Fox 1”. Russell will be remembered by his two children, Kimberly and Russ Jr.; his grandchildren; a sister Kathleen M. Foley; a niece Corinna Lamb and her husband Jason; his stepfather William Gilbert along with many close and dear friends; and last but not least his dog Sebby. Along with his parents he was predeceased by a brother Jerry Desrocher. Russell’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the Staff at St. Francis Hospital and Riverside Healthcare, 5th Floor. Funeral services celebrating Russell’s life will be held Friday April 24, 2009, at 1:00pm in the Farley Sullivan Funeral Home, 50 Naubuc Avenue, Glastonbury. Interment will follow in Mount St. Benedict Cemetery (Shrine of the Apostle Section), 1 Cottage Grove Road, Bloomfield. In lieu of flowers.
